Welcome to Caroline Laird Therapy.

Welcome

I’m so pleased you’ve found your way here.
Everyone’s story is unique, and I believe each person has their own way of navigating life’s challenges. It’s a privilege to be part of your journey, sitting with you as you explore and understand what you’re experiencing.

Taking the first step toward counselling can feel overwhelming.
Having been on both sides of the therapy chair, I truly understand how courageously reaching out can be. My own journey has shown me the transformative power of being truly heard—where you can feel safe to be yourself, free from judgment. My goal is to offer that same supportive space for you.

How I Can Support You
I work within a person-centred framework, which means you are the expert of your own life. Our work together will be collaborative, at a pace that feels right for you. Whether you want to explore specific issues or seek a deeper understanding of yourself, counselling can help you find clarity, resilience, and a sense of well-being.

Let’s Connect
If you’re ready to begin or have questions, I invite you to get in touch.

About Me

Hi, I’m Caroline, and I am dedicated to supporting people on their journeys toward greater understanding, healing, and well-being.

My counselling style is rooted in a person-centred approach, emphasising empathy, genuine understanding, and respect for your unique experience. I also draw from theories rooted in the psychodynamic approach, which explore how unconscious patterns, past experiences, and relationships influence our current feelings and behaviours. This blending of approaches allows me to support you in gaining deeper insight into yourself and your patterns while maintaining a supportive, non-judgmental environment.

What motivates me as a therapist?
I am passionate about helping my clients feel heard, valued, and understood. Whether you're facing anxiety, relationship issues, or seeking personal growth, I aim to create a warm, compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.

Qualifications and Training

I earned my undergraduate Degree in Psychology from Queen Margaret University, followed by a Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma in Counselling from Edinburgh University. My academic background provides me with a solid foundation in human behaviour and mental health, which I am committed to continually expanding through ongoing professional development.

I am an Accredited Pregnancy and Infant loss practitioner from the Foundation for Infant Loss.

What can I expect if we work together?

What Can You Expect if We Work Together?

Starting your counselling journey can feel daunting—I understand that it’s hard to know what to expect, choose the right counsellor, or even imagine what happens in the therapy room.

I see counselling like decluttering your attic—except for your thoughts. Together, we’ll explore that overflowing box of ideas, feelings, and memories. We’ll sort through what to keep, what to let go of, and how to organize what remains. While counselling can't erase your experiences, it can help you make sense of them—carrying what’s meaningful while letting go of what’s overwhelming.

First Steps: The Initial Consultation

If you decide to reach out, we’ll start with a 30-minute free initial consultation. This session is a chance for you to share a bit about yourself and what has brought you to counselling. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask questions about how I work and see if you feel comfortable working with me.

Moving Forward

If you choose to continue, we’ll arrange regular sessions—usually at the same day and time each week. These can be held in person or online, whichever feels best for you.

What Will We Talk About?

That’s entirely up to you. As a person-centred counsellor, I will follow your lead. You’re not expected to have everything figured out; we will work at your pace, exploring whatever feels relevant to you in each session.
